Expertise

The principal of the organisation Apati Horner, a qualified carpenter, for 20 years has performed a variety of work on remote communities and in towns across Central Australia.

Project types have included construction of remote new housing, remote renovation of existing houses, remote new health clinic, remote new police station, new and maintenance of community stores.

On these projects he has been a big part of managing timeframes, sub-contractors and ordering of material to have jobs done to a high standard meeting deadline.

Apati Horner, expert carpenter and company CEO, is passionate about changing people’s lives by changing their environments.

Since completing his apprenticeship with bush-based building company Pedersens PTY LTD at 17 years old, he has worked on a range of job sites throughout the Northern Territory from the remotest of communities to regional towns.

His love of remote communities saw him become builder-trainer at Tangentyere Constructions where imparted his knowledge and skills to local First Nations people. He still prefers to work with small crews and hire local people from the communities he services.

After sub-contracting for 7 years, he joined Pro Build where he moved up quickly and learnt how to manage major projects.

These valuable skills, extensive regional knowledge and professional contacts inspired him to found Phoenix Constructions NT PTY LTD in 2016 to deliver outstanding construction services based on the client’s needs.

The company has had ongoing contracts with Outback Stores, Remote Area Services, Ingkerreke Oustations Resources Services and a range of small private businesses and households in Alice Springs.
